That’s … “Life in the fast lane” … along the Ucayali River in the Amazon Jungle. It’s really difficult to describe what we see here. Words don’t give a clear picture of what life is like for many, many of the people. Instead of words for this blog we thought we would send along a few pictures. As the saying goes…If a picture is worth a thousand words…then…here are 14,000 !
A little girl playing in the “yard” while her mom cooks.
Picking up remnants of edible food to eat.
Typical house along the river. This one is alongside some docks – really made out of floating logs.
Home built on stilts to “afloat” and above water during rainy season.
Homes are establshed wherever people find space.
Common transportation. By Land…
People along the river, in all directions, come to town to sell their wares. It’s a long trip in a very small boat for a little profit.
Have mattress will travel! Sometimes people travel for days to get here. They put their mattresses on top of the small boats to sleep. Hmmmm, not us…too many mosquitoes.
There’s no place like Home….
A riverboat home. Check out the little girl sitting in the middle. Where does she go and run and play?
And then we are absolutely blessed with phenomenal skies, sunrises and sunsets.
Livin’ Life in the Fast Lane within His Mighty Grip,
