There is a young boy that attends El Salvador church here in Pucallpa, Peru. Living in the surrounding neighborhood he can get to church easily on his own. He shows up early Sunday mornings while breakfast is being served and his worship starts off from there. Andres is his name and he is about 10 years old.

Being autistic is difficult anywhere, but in Pucallpa it is extremely difficult because there are no programs for help and support. Children are left alone much of the time as parents do not know how to work with autism.

This young boy brings a smile to everyone’s face. He is lively, loves to help out with the toddlers class and sings and talks a mile a minute. We actually really look forward to seeing him and are disappointed when he can’t make it. He leads the little ones in his repertoire of songs, counting them off as he goes…. Song # 1 and then he sings. Song #2 and then he sings again and often does this 10 times in a row.

DSCN1965God has big plans for Andres – there is no doubt in our minds. To us he is a hero, leading the kids in worship and even the adults when we head off to “big church!’

Andres – YOU ARE A HERO.

In His Mighty Grip meeting Heroes everyday,

Stephanie
