I’m sure all of you are familiar with the old Hymn “Take My Life And Let It Be”.  I was sitting in church this morning and we were singing a different song, but for some reason the words to “Take My Life” popped into my head.  I started thinking about the words and thinking about the meaning of those words.  We are so quick to sing praise and worship music, but rarely stop and think about the seriousness and the deep meaning of what we are saying.

“Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee.  Take my moments and my days , let them flow in ceaseless praise… Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of Thy love;  take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee…  Take my voice, and let me sing always, only, for my King;  take my lips and let them be filled with messages from Thee…    Take my silver and my gold, not a mite would I withhold;  take my intellect and use every power as Thou shalt choose…  Take my will, and make it Thine, it shall be no longer mine;  take my heart, it is Thine own, it shall be Thy royal throne…  Take my love, my Lord, I pour at Thy feet its treasure-store;  take myself and I will be ever, only, all for Thee…”

Amazing, powerful words and yet it is so unnatural and difficult for us to say “Yes Lord, take my life, take every moment of every day, take all the money that I have, take my will it will no longer be mine, take my heart and take all my love – take it ALL – it doesn’t matter what I want, it doesn’t matter what I think I ‘need’ – it’s yours Lord, so take it and do with me what You will…”

Really???  Yes, that is what is commanded of us and what God expects from us – all of us.  Everything we have is His.  We are not in control, we are not our own.  He wants us to SURRENDER everything – another song comes to mind: “I Surrender All”.  Just think about these words.

Be ready – because when you are willing to say this and truly surrender ALL to Him, you are in for an amazing journey.

In His Mighty Grip and Singing These Words,
